Miami, FL  33172

Time:

The presentation will include a brief description of traffic safety analysis procedure, shortcoming of existing methods, and the development of TSAT (Traffic Safety Analysis Tool) to automate and improve the process. TSAT is an ArcGIS Server based web application developed to assist in analyzing traffic crashes for safety studies. Once a roadway segment or intersection is selected from TSAT interactive menu, the program will search the State historical crash database (CAR) prepare analysis summaries and plots and identify accident patterns that exceed state averages.  The purpose of this application is to streamline crash analysis in a visualized environment, simplify the crash data processing, improve the understanding of safety issues, and enhance safety awareness for traffic studies.  In this presentation, Dr. Espino will give an introduction of TSAT, how it works, live demo its main features and discuss ideas for future development.
